MATILDE VICENZI AWARD FOR SCIENCE PRESENTED TO GABRIELA CONSTANTIN

The World of Vicenzi 29 09 2026
Second edition of the Award promoted by the Vicenzi Group: the neuroimmunologist and Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Verona was honoured in Piazza dei Signori.

Professor Gabriela Constantin has been awarded the Matilde Vicenzi Award for Science. Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Verona and President of the Italian Association of Neuroimmunology, her studies on the interaction between the immune system and the nervous system have opened up new perspectives in understanding diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s.

The award was presented by our Vice President, Beatrice Vicenzi, in Piazza dei Signori during the University’s PhD graduation ceremony. The award itself is a unique bronze work by Veronese sculptor Alessandro Mutto.

Now in its second edition, following the first dedicated to Culture, the Matilde Vicenzi Award – Simply Extraordinary Women was established to celebrate the legacy of our founder. The courage to explore new paths, passion for one’s work, a sense of responsibility and care for people: these are the values Matilde Vicenzi passed on to us and which, after more than 120 years of history, continue to guide the way we do business. This is why we chose to dedicate an award to the “modern-day Matildes”: women who, with expertise and determination, often far from the spotlight, contribute every day to the growth of the Verona community.

Recognising the value of research means looking to the future while remaining true to our roots.
